I feel that high on my list is that we must enjoy our Rotary. If
we enjoy Rotary we are very much more likely to be an effective
and cohesive club; a club in which to be a member, is a pleasure.
We will be examining the new leadership plans suggested and
proposed by District, taking particular note of that which is
relevant to our club. In fact we have already started by making a
new committee structure which we hope will answer one of the
results of last year's survey. Where possible members have been
asked to be on one committee only. I know there are one or two
exceptions but I hope I have already spoken to and cleared that
with them.
With the new structure each committee has a wider scope and I
ask that the projects and activities that are proposed can be
supported by all members. There is a great wealth of experience
and knowledge within the club and urge all members that where
appropriate and needed, they may be willing to be co-opted to
help. There are already some positive ideas and projects in the
pipe line.
I will not pre-empt the reports from the chairmen of the
committees, only to say that of old I have a bias towards the
supporting of local charities and would welcome our continued
support for the Hospice and Hospice at Home and I am hopeful that
there may other avenues that can be explored when our Wishing Well
project comes to fruition, fingers crossed for its success. My
bias is in no way meant to sound as if it will preclude both
International and Foundation goals, as voiced in previous meetings
and emphasized by our R.I. President. ie elimination of polio, as
well as water and food aid for children and disaster responses.
Our successful youth program also very much deserves our full
support in order to continue the good work that has been
established in this field in this area.
